Use the alt attribute for images

Medium Influence Easy to implement

Search engines can’t see what’s on a picture, they read the image’s description, the alternative text. This text is marked using the alt attribute. This helps image search engines indexing images better.

Using the alt attribute also improves your website’s accessibility (e.g. for visually impaired visitors).

Use the alt text to tell what’s in the picture. Don’t use more than 7 words. Use your keywords in the alt text as far as they are related to the image’s content, but avoid keyword stuffing.
